Job Description

General Purpose

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly real estate activity, maintaining general ledger accounts, and ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements and supporting work papers. This role also assists with special projects as necessary.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $60,000 annually

  • Bonus: 8% annual performance bonus

  • Paid Time Off (PTO):

    • 15 days per year for the first 5 years of employment

    • 20 days per year after 5 years

    • Can increase up to 30 days with tenure

  • Remote Work: After 6 months of employment, employees may work remotely up to 12 days per quarter

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete set of books for various subsidiaries of a real estate client located in downtown Orlando

  • Prepare monthly real estate activity, including acquisitions, dispositions, and lease changes (e.g., CPI increases, lease amendments)

  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts

  • Assist with bank reconciliations for multiple entities

  • Code or review coding of transactions (including invoices) for posting to the general ledger

  • Assist in preparing audit work papers (year-end), quarterly work papers for 10-Q and 10-K filings, and monthly work papers for internal reporting

  • Support SEC quarterly and annual reporting requirements

  • Prepare monthly reporting packages and other accounting reports as needed

  • Participate in special projects as assigned

  • Ensure accuracy, compliance with company policies, and timely completion of all work

  • Work 40–45 hours per week, with additional hours during peak periods (year-end, tax season, and quarter-end for 10-Q filings and special projects)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred

  • 1+ years of prior accounting experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Proficiency in:

    • 10-key calculator

    • Microsoft Excel

    • Accounting software (Oracle preferred)
