Provides daily operations support and maintenance for network systems (including wireless). Proactively monitors networks to provide stable, dependable network services across multiple platforms. Configures and troubleshoots computer networks. Maintains LAN/WLAN/WAN operations by working with network facilities and hardware/software vendors to ensure timely problem resolution. Maintains and utilizes network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and the movement of information from one location to the other.
Job Responsibilities
• Manages and configures startup and running configs for network switch equipment.
• Perform network configurations from DMARC to workstations; fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and the necessary topology needed to achieve a high QoS.
• Monitor protocol compatibility, perform system tuning and make recommendations for improvement.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network (LAN, WLAN, & WAN) multiplexers, hubs and routers, and use remote monitoring tools.
• Perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning.
• Must know the OSI model and how it pertains to the flow of data throughout the environment.
• Communicate information to Information Security Team on particular firewall rules needed to support team projects and new equipment/applications.
• Maintain and utilize network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and the movement of information from one location to the other.
• Adhere to Departmental Procedures and Policies, including on-site travel for issue resolution and resource deployment.
• Accurate tracking of incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocation through service desk ticketing systems.
• Contribute to Property Management Reports (PMRs) creation and tracking.
• Participate in after-hours (evening & weekend) on-call rotation
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Travel to remote locations to support our remote sites, performing maintenance, upgrades & meetings.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
Typically has 1 to 3 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments. Other related networking certifications desired. Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment is highly desired.
