You are:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field. (4) or more years of supervisor accounting experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in accounting or MBA preferred.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
- Well organized and able to successfully multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple demanding deadlines.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and governmental accounting software.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to providing optimal Customer Service.
What you will do?
The Accounting Supervisor serves in a leadership role oversees assigned General Ledger (GL) teams, ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines, Florida statutes, and internal policies. Key responsibilities include managing financial reporting for 20+ governments, overseeing debt management, and maintaining robust internal controls.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise GL staff, including hiring, performance management, and training with cross-training plans.
- Review and approve financial transactions, including assessments, journal entries, and bond disclosures.
- Establish and enforce month-end/year-end closing procedures and internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing, receivables, and debt service payment processing.
- Monitor general ledger account codes, billing, and receivables for accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with audits, budget preparation, and implementation of new GASB standards.
- Provide financial advice to senior staff and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Represent the department in interdepartmental meetings and budget planning sessions.
