Payroll Specialist (Construction Industry) – Contract to Hire / Direct Hire for Right Candidate
A growing organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. This opportunity is contract-to-hire. Exciting opportunity for someone who can step in and own the payroll function with professionalism and discretion.
This role will focus exclusively on payroll and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and understands the importance of confidentiality.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday, in office
- Standard hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Flexible start and end times available
Pay Rate
- $32.00 – $35.00/hour depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for approximately 100+ employees using Paycom
- Manage payroll for a primarily salaried workforce
- Import GL files and ensure payroll data accuracy
- Handle job costing, including allocation of time, mileage, and shift differentials
- Ensure 3rd shift premiums are coded correctly
- Maintain employee Paycom access/logins
- Verify timekeeping data and follow up with employees/managers as needed
- Generate payroll reports and support internal payroll functions
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee and company information
Qualifications
Required:
- Prior construction industry payroll experience
- Experience with job costing
- High level of discretion and confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow up with employees and managers to gather missing payroll information
