Title: Accounting Clerk
Pay: $20+ depending on experience
Overall Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for certain aspects of the accounting function to include accounts payable, reconciliations, posting payments, monthly closings, and undertaking other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.
- Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
- Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
- Prepare monthly accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Process international wires and ACH using multiple bank accounts.
- Prepare journal entries for monthly closings.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and research to resolve account variances.
- Assist with annual audit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- AA or Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred but will take experience.
- Relevant experience in a non-profit or association is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of progressive work experience in accounting; AP, AR, etc
- Intermediate to advance experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and FRx or similar programs. Familiarity with Great Plains is a plus not a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently to be a team player and work well with others.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong analytical and accounting skills.
