Tews Company is partnered with a leading pharmaceutical company seeking an experienced Head of Finance to join their team.


SHIFT:  8-5

General Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Lead financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures;
  • Analyze business processes and assure they are efficiently and effectively measured and accounted for by the ERP system;
  • Drive efficiency improvements in the current financial and business processes;
  • Create controls to effectively manage and accurately report financial and business information; 
  • Monitor and report financial performance and ensure fiscal deadlines are met;
  • Oversee the management of the general ledger and related systems for general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and revenue services;
  • Collect, interpret and report financial data for all business processes;
  • Play a key role in the implementation of financial management and data management systems;
  • Manage the relationship between company and lending institutions and external auditors; 
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, yearly and other periodic financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ensure their timeliness and accuracy;
  • Review daily, weekly and monthly cash flow projections, monthly borrowing base for line of credit reporting, cash flow forecasting and other reports;
  • Preparation of special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends;
  • Ensure accurate cost reporting and allocation of labor, material and overhead accounts in a pharmaceutical environment;
  • Protecting assets by creating and enforcing internal controls;
  • Analyzing variances and determining root causes and corrective actions;
  • Oversee development, coordination and implementation of annual operating budget including assisting pharmacy leadership and senior team with budget preparation and development of budget assumptions; 
  • Aid in the financial diligence of potential acquisitions and play a key role on the post-acquisition implementation team; Oversee management of inventory, reconciliation and reporting of all values and variances;
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (including education and certifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred;
  • CPA required; 
  • Ten + years in a senior financial managerial position with experience in both medium to large size corporation and public accounting environments;
  • Advanced computer skills including mastery of MS Word and Excel, familiarity with MS Access and the creation of relational databases and queries, spreadsheet creation and management, word processing;
  • Ability to lead a diverse and cross-functional team; experience with developing, setting and managing team to goals;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Previous experience implementing an ERP system;
  • Strong organizational as well as time management skills;
  • Customer focused; team oriented


  • Someone who can work in a Matrix type environment.
