Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience—target is $45-52k with potential discretionary bonus.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (including education and certifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 1-3 years of work experience—public accounting/industry

PREFERENCES:

  • Advanced degree/C.P.A. preferred but not required
  • Homebuilding/real estate development experience an plus

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • JOB SUMMARY:
    • Our client seeking an energetic Accounting and Finance professional to join the team as a Senior Staff Accountant.  Reporting to the Director of Finance, the qualified individual will be responsible for working in a cross-functional environment to ensure proper accounting, budgeting and analysis is performed on some of the company’s most significant assets and liabilities.  One main focus of the job will entail working with the Finance and Land teams to ensure land and lot inventory records are accurate and supported by appropriate budgets.  Some examples of the Senior Staff Accountant’s responsibilities in this area include:
      • Prepare monthly reconciliation of Company’s Land and Lot inventory report and present findings to management.
      • Collaborate with Land department employees to maintain or create land development budgets and lot costing models for existing and new communities. 
      • Perform monthly land development budget reviews and research variances as needed.
      • Produce required monthly quarterly and ad hoc reports as needed. .
      • Maintain lot inventory detail records including address information.
      • Assist with establishment of new communities, phased releases, lot premiums and floor plan pricing within JDEdwards.
    • Additionally the Senior Staff Accountant will be an interface between our Sales, Human Resources, Contract Administration and Finance teams to track and manage sales commissions paid under various programs.  This aspect of the role requires attention to detail and discretion as it deals with sensitive information.  Examples of the Senior Staff Accountant’s responsibilities in this regard include, but are not limited to:
      • Extract and review weekly data from ERP system related to commissions programs.
      • Maintain commissions advance/draw records for each sales team member.
      • Produce commissions payment records for each payroll cycle.
      • Communicate with sales team to verify accuracy of commissions.
      • Submit approved commissions payment records to corporate payroll.
      • Investigate discrepancies if they arise. 
    • The Senior Staff Accountant will also be responsible for performing general ledger reconciliations as assigned, participating in month end close process, assisting in quarterly financial forecasting and providing accounting and finance support for the general operation of the business.
